Tired of Glasses or contacts getting in your way?
Imagine waking up every morning and seeing the world perfectly, without the hassle of glasses or contacts. Orthokeratology (OrthoK) makes it possible!
Night-time vision correction for adults and kids.
Orthokeratology (OrthoK)
OrthoK uses custom-designed rigid gas permeable lenses to gently reshape your cornea, akin to “eye braces,” while you sleep. This temporary reshaping corrects your vision, allowing you to see clearly throughout the day without corrective lenses.
Here’s how it works in 4 easy steps:
- Insert OrthoK lenses before bedtime.
- Enjoy a restful sleep.
- Remove lenses upon waking.
- Experience clear vision throughout the day.
OrthoK offers a safe and fully reversible process. If the lenses are not worn for 48-72 hours, the reshaping effect diminishes, allowing the cornea to gradually return to its natural shape.
In children, it also provides the added benefit of significantly slowing down myopia progression, which regular glasses and contact lenses cannot achieve.
Benefits of OrthoK (Adults & Kids)
Freedom from Glasses and Contacts
Wake up and see clearly without reaching for glasses or contacts. Enjoy a day free from restrictions, perfect for active lifestyles or demanding jobs.
Reduced Dry Eye Discomfort
Unlike soft contacts, OrthoK lenses don’t require constant contact with your eye, reducing dryness and irritation.
Safe and Completely Reversible
Unlike LASIK, OrthoK is not permanent. If you stop wearing the lenses, your vision will gradually return to its original state.
Suitable for Many
Ortho-k can correct myopia and, in some cases, astigmatism. It’s a great option for adults who may not be ideal candidates for LASIK surgery.
Great for active lifestyles
Perfect for people who enjoy sports and outdoor activities.
Gold standard for myopia control
OrthoK is widely recognised as the most effective optical treatment for myopia control, often referred to as the ‘gold standard’.
Numerous international research studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in slowing the progression of myopia in children. OrthoK lenses can typically reduce the rate of myopia progression by approximately 50%, with many cases showing even better outcomes. For instance, a child who might have progressed to -8.00 diopters of myopia untreated could stabilise around -4.00 diopters after OrthoK treatment. This significant reduction not only improves functional vision but also lowers the risk of serious eye diseases later in life.
In our clinical practice, we’ve observed even better results, with some children achieving significant improvements.
We treat the cause of Myopia, not just the symptoms
If your child is already wearing glasses, or has worsening eyesight each year, we can help.
One of our optometrists will conduct a comprehensive Myopia Management Assessment and address any questions you may have regarding your condition. We will then create a tailored treatment plan that includes pre-treatment, during treatment, and post-treatment care.
