Dry Eye Clinic Melbourne

Full Dry eye assessment

At Eyecare Project, our comprehensive 60-minute dry eye assessment is designed to diagnose, establish a baseline, and manage dry eye disease effectively.

During the consultation, we perform a thorough evaluation of your tear film, meibomian glands, and ocular surface using advanced tools such as infrared meibography and non-invasive tear break-up time tests. We also capture multiple baseline photographs and scans under a microscope to track your progress over time.

Our detailed approach ensures that, by the end of the assessment, you’ll receive a personalised treatment plan tailored to address the underlying causes of your symptoms.

We use Medicare’s Easyclaim system to submit your rebate on the spot, ensuring you receive your rebate of $64.60 immediately. You may have experienced this system at your GP, as it is widely used by doctors.

Zest deep eyelid & Eyelash cleaning

A ZEST Deep Eyelid and Eyelash Cleaning consultation at Eyecare Project is a highly effective, 40-minute in-clinic treatment designed to address dry eye symptoms caused by blepharitis and Demodex mites.

This painless procedure uses a specialised gel formulated by Zocular® to exfoliate and thoroughly cleanse the eyelids and lashes, removing debris, unclogging meibomian glands, and killing Demodex mites. It is an effective treatment for reducing inflammation, promoting healthier tear production, and improving overall eye comfort.

During the consultation, our optometrists will assess your eye health, take baseline high magnification photographs, and tailor the treatment to your condition. The result is immediate relief from irritation and refreshed, healthier eyes.

This consultation is typically scheduled following a full dry eye assessment. If it is determined that the underlying cause of your dry eye symptoms is blepharitis and Demodex mites, this session will focus on the appropriate treatment for these conditions.

Lumenis OptiLight IPL

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is an advanced technology that delivers polychromatic light through precisely calibrated pulses. This non-invasive, injection-free procedure is designed to stimulate the meibomian glands, restoring their natural function. The energy, spectrum, and timing are carefully adjusted for optimal effectiveness. We are the only clinic offering IPL treatments for both the eyes and the face.

Meibomian Gland Stimulation:
Lumenis IPL targets blocked meibomian glands, which are responsible for over 80% of dry eye cases, improving oil production, restoring tear stability, and enhancing gland function. It also improves meibomian gland morphology and functionality for long-term relief.

Reduce Inflammation:
Lumenis IPL therapy can significantly decrease inflammation, which is one of the primary causes of dry eyes. By targeting the blood vessels that contribute to inflammation, this treatment helps in providing relief and improving overall eye health.

Improve Tear Breakup Time:
Lumenis IPL significantly extends tear breakup time and decreases tear osmolarity for longer-lasting relief.

Decrease Demodex:
Lumenis IPL reduces demodex mites, lowering the risk of infections such as styes and preventing bacterial overgrowth on the eyelids.

Lumenis IPL not only relieves symptoms but also slows the progression of chronic dry eye, making it a highly effective, long-term solution.

Note: It’s important to note that not all IPL machines or protocols are the same. Lumenis IPL is the only IPL machine that is FDA-approved for effective treatment of dry eyes. Our protocols are based on scientific research and the successful outcomes experienced by our patients. Additionally, not all techniques are the same, which is why we tailor each treatment to suit your individual needs.
